Alerts for the Pullman Campus
Road Hazards During Back to School and Harvest
Warning for the Pullman Campus—Please be aware the annual grain harvest in the Palouse is later than usual this year. With the influx of students for the start of the fall semester, the potential for traffic hazards are many.
During harvest, slow moving grain trucks and combines will be found in significant numbers on area roads. The problem is compounded by the hills and short sight lines found on many rural roads. WSU would like to remind all drivers to slow down, be cautious, and alert for slow moving vehicles when driving in the area especially during this time of year.
Bicyclists are warned to also be very cautious when travelling on rural roads. Most local roads are narrow with little or no shoulder. Slow-moving harvest vehicles combined with the hills and short sight lines can put cyclists at increased risk. Please be alert and very careful when bicycling on area roads anytime, but additionally so this time of year.
WSU encourages everyone to drive defensively and courteously, whether in town or in the country.
